A special plant...

The Alenois cress grows from a small, fast-growing seed. Once picked, it withers very quickly, which is why you will hardly ever find it on the market, and why it is better to grow it yourself, thanks to our solar greenhouse, which contains a bag of organic watercress seeds.

This small plant grows as small, light green stems with small round leaves at the end, which are usually eaten raw. It can be grown continuously for 4 to 5 weeks: once the stems have reached a height of 6 to 7 cm, simply cut them off and repeat the experiment!

Most often used as a condiment, watercress is used in cooking to add a slightly spicy note to salads, toast or soups. And despite its small size, it is one of the vegetables with one of the highest intakes of vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Thanks to its many properties, it was already highly appreciated by the Greeks and Romans.

... With a thousand virtues

Although it can be eaten in many ways, it is raw that retains all its flavour and nutritional properties.

Among its virtues, we find:

- high levels of antioxidants

- improved eye health

- a source of calcium, vitamins, A, B1, B2, B3, C and K

- improved digestion

- but also toning, diuretic, restorative and stimulating properties!

In short, don't be fooled by appearances, because this little plant is as effective as an elixir of youth.

The watercress in our greenhouse kit is of Italian origin and is bagged in Bourges in a small plastic container made of PLA, a plastic made from corn or cane sugar. It is therefore completely biodegradable.
